Outreach
Introduction:
The Program of Veterinary Technology engages in a number of outreach programs, that take students and faculty into communities both locally and to regions in the American Southwest. Outreach is an important part of the mission of the Program as there is much to tell about the wonders of animals and the profession of veterinary technology. Program faculty and students visit schools to talk about clinical experiences and to answer questions about veterinary medicine and nursing. In addition, the program participates in low cost preventive health clinics for the animals of Native Americans living in New Mexico and Arizona. Each year two teams of faculty and students work in clinics organized by Americans for Native Americans. The students call this important effort Project “Happy Running Paws;” named for a beloved dog from Crown Point, New Mexico. The Program of Veterinary Technology is honored to serve the animals of Native Americans and the regional communities of Philadelphia in the hopes of making the world a safer and healthier place for animals.
